Expectations

Respect, Hard Work, Humility, Heart.
Bring your concerns to me. We are a team, working together for the same common goal.

Expectations:

  • Punctuality: Being on time means being ready to go 10 minutes before practice starts.
  • Dress Code: Practice and tournament attire must be clean tennis clothing. Modesty is always expected—no biker shorts, crop tops, low-cut tops, sheer clothing, or tight shorts with an inseam of less than 3 inches. Tennis shoes with proper tread are required to prevent injury.
  • Supervision: Athletes are not permitted to wander the campus unsupervised.
  • Personal Devices: Headphones, earbuds, or any personal music items are not to be worn in the tennis area or gym for safety reasons.
  • Cell Phones: No cell phones at practice unless approved by the coaching staff. Leave them in your bag.
  • Court Placement: There are reasons a player is placed on certain courts, and it is not always based on their UTR. If an athlete is paired with a lower UTR player, it may be because they are both working on the same skills.
  • Preparation: Be ready before stepping on the court—bring water, ice, tape, grips, wristbands, etc. Have three strung racquets in your bag at the start of all practices and tournaments.
  • Hydration: Proper hydration is part of your preparation for both practice and tournaments.
  • Communication: If you’re going to be late or miss practice, please inform the Director or management at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Health & Illness: If you are sick and running a fever, do not come to practice until you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours.
  • Nutrition: Athletes are expected to maintain a healthy diet. You cannot become an elite athlete without taking care of your body. Junk food and fast food are not permitted on campus or in the office. If you need help organizing an affordable, healthy diet, please let the Director know.
  • Physical & Mental Conditioning: Physical conditioning translates into mental conditioning. By pushing your limits, you increase both your physical and mental stress thresholds. This is a crucial part of becoming an elite athlete. Be prepared to work hard.
